An RV is perfect for decorating, maybe even better than a brick and mortar home. Whether parked at an RV park, in front of a relative’s house, or even driving down the interstate on Christmas Day, there’s no limit but your imagination when decorating.
Lights, lights, and more lights!
Christmas lights are an obvious choice — obvious for a reason. There’s nothing better than a string of well placed Christmas lights, especially on an RV. By following the curves and angles of your RV’s body, you can make for an impressive and dazzling display.
Wreaths go a long way on an RV.
We mean, of course they do, seeing as they’re on an RV going cross-country! Wreaths are a simple yet elegant way to decorate for Christmas. Tasteful and beautiful, wreaths are also great do-it-yourself projects. Most craft and hobby stores sell naked wreaths. With a little glue, ribbon, and whatever else you find inspiring, you’ll have a wreath to match the season. Try placing them in windows or, if you’re parked, right above the entrance to your RV.
It’s all about that tree.
While maintaining a Christmas Tree in an RV takes a bit of effort and stabilizing, the result is all the reward you’ll need. A tree is a classic decoration and lends warmth and tradition to any interior, whether that interior is on or off wheels. A fake tree is recommended for an RV interior since they’re easier to stabilize and come in smaller sizes, but if a live tree can also work if you find one that’s suitably sized and can stabilize it well enough. Try collecting souvenir ornaments over the next year from everywhere you go. Next December, you can showcase your travels right on your Christmas Tree!
Bumper decor can give your RV even more personality.
Give your RV’s “face” a little flair. Just like a car, your RV’s front bumper and grille can be decorated with decals, some of which are Christmas-themed. From Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer to Santa Claus himself, a few props can make your RV look like classic characters.
Once you’re done roaming, why not kick back with an eggnog?
Once your day of driving is over and you’ve arrived at your destination, you deserve a little drink. And, since it’s Christmas, why not make it a classic eggnog?
Ingredients
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/3 cup sugar, plus 1 tablespoon
- 1 pint whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 ounces bourbon
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 4 egg whites
Directions
In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. Gradually add the 1/3 cup sugar and continue to beat until it is completely dissolved. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan, over high heat, combine the milk, heavy cream and nutmeg and bring just to a boil, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and gradually temper the hot mixture into the egg and sugar mixture. Then return everything to the pot and cook until the mixture reaches 160 degrees F. Remove from the heat, stir in the bourbon, pour into a medium mixing bowl, and set in the refrigerator to chill.
In a medium mixing bowl, beat the egg whites to soft peaks. With the mixer running gradually add the 1 tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Whisk the egg whites into the chilled mixture.
